Freeport Martial Arts achieved much in 2025. We are proud of the work we put in and the results we got out.
Here is a brief summary of our accomplishments:
- We moved into a new location at 107 W Main St and made the space ours through a ton of renovations: mats, cage panels, heavy bags, fitness equipment, security cameras, signage, and many gallons of paint.
- We hosted a grand reopening week to celebrate our move to our new location.
- We competed in seven tournaments and brought home 15 medals, bringing us to 13 competitions and 22 medals overall.
- We were featured twice on Freepod: February 2025 and December 2025.
- Several members crosstrained at Downtown Jiu Jitsu Club, Gracie Allegiance’s Chicago headquarters, for bootcamps, seminars, and more.
- We created a Women’s Self-Defense course, which over 20 women have attended.
- We held several UFC watch parties and a couple of movie nights.
- We sponsored the Freeport Middle School wrestling team for the third year in a row.
- I made my fourth trip to Bosnia and Herzegovina for a Jiu-Jitsu and adventure camp.
- We launched a Kids Jiu-Jitsu program that has grown to a dozen kids and seen its first promotions.
- We collaborated with Elliott Graphix on our exterior signage and a new t-shirt design.
- We held our third annual Freeport Martial Arts family picnic.
- We received rezoning approval from the City of Freeport and held our ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Greater Freeport Partnership.
- We participated in several Freeport events, including Pretzel City Brewfest, Wine & Witches Boo-tique Walk, Bootiful Saturday, and the Mistletoe Walk
- We promoted three members to blue belt: Jermaine, Blake, and Judd.
- We celebrated our third birthday.
- We hosted our third Jiu-Jitsu seminar with Professor Adem Redzovic, a fourth-degree black belt and the owner of Downtown Jiu Jitsu Club in Chicago.
- We ran a food drive that collected over 50 pounds of food.
- We launched a Mixed Martial Arts program with the help of our friends at Delarosa Submission Wrestling in Rockford.
- We ordered tons of Freeport Martial Arts-branded merchandise and equipment. Order yours today!
- We enjoyed training sessions and promotion ceremonies with our friends at Black Flag Jiu Jitsu and No Joke Mixed Martial Arts.
- We grew to nearly 40 active members.
2026 is underway, and we have much more in store. As we have said for years, we are just getting started. Join us!
