Freeport Martial Arts will host a grand opening event on Saturday, November 5, 2022, inside Rawleigh Building D on Floor 2. The event will provide an opportunity to meet the members and staff of Freeport Martial Arts.

About Freeport Martial Arts
Freeport Martial Arts will open its doors to the residents of Freeport, Illinois in November 2022, offering Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes to men and women of all experience levels. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes are a great way to join a community, make friends, get in shape, and learn self-defense at the same time.
Classes are held Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights and Saturday mornings. Please, refer to the Freeport Martial Arts class schedule for details.
About John Garvens
John Garvens, the owner and head instructor of Freeport Martial Arts, grew up in Freeport, graduating from Freeport High School in May 2003. He later graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Music degree.
John served in the United States Army Reserve for 12 years as a trombone player and performed throughout the United States and in Germany and France with the 85th Army Band. While serving, he completed the Basic Combatives (Level 1) Trainer Course.
John lives in Freeport with his dog Summer and works as a director in a consulting firm that implements business software applications.
